My Music Journey
I began learning to play the violin when I was just four years old at Barrett Suzuki Music Studio in Reston, VA. The Suzuki method help me progress quickly at a young age, and gave me plenty of insight of how younger students learn most effectively. This studio also showed me the importance of having a close-knit community in the music world. I still keep in touch with many of my fellow Barrett Suzuki kids today!
Later on, I participated in orchestra programs at school and outside of school. I spent the most time with Loudoun Youth Symphony Orchestra and their other programs, such as Strings Workshop, all through elementary school, middle school, and high school. By early high school, I was concertmaster of their Symphonic Orchestra.
Making Music a Career
When getting closer and closer to high school graduation, I realized that I wanted to continue playing the violin and being a part of this community. I was accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University as a music education major, which I later switched to just music when I realized I wanted to also minor in business and entrepreneurship and work towards having my own business rather than jumping straight into a teaching job.
As I wrap up my time at VCU, I plan to always be auditioning for and supporting local orchestras, offer my expertise to young students who want to participate in orchestras, and eventually start my own business.
